We hold musical events at our Tunbridge Wells music store throughout the year, such as Instrument Try Out Days, recitals, taster sessions and demonstrations. We also invite local bands and artists to come and play in store. ABRSM Practical Exams are taking place at the Music School (upstairs at Brittens Music) from November 13th, 2020 to the end of the month.
This course is aimed at students who are at Grade 3 theory level or above. The outcome is to prepare students to take the ABRSM Grade 5 Theory exam in November, 2020. The course will include lots of written theory, and instruction to cover the syllabus of the exam. The course will be run by Nicky Catterwell who teaches at Brittens Music School. There will be a chance to take a follow up marked paper nearer to the exam date.
The online format is likely to include pre-recorded videos (Youtube) of the topics which will be accessible to the delegates. This is likely to be followed up by hand written theory and excercises (which will be posted to delegates). These will then be marked with a Live lesson (Zoom or Microsoft Teams) on a technology to be decided.
The Face to Face format will follow previous years, but will consider social distancing and have limited places. It will comprise class taught lessons, worksheets and marking. The course is likely to run for 4 days at our Music School, in Tunbridge Wells between 10:30 and 16:30. There will be an hour for lunch each day. Under 16s will need written authorisation if they are permitted to leave the building during breaks - they will be supervised at all times. Please bring a packed lunch. There is tea, coffee and hot chocolate on site.
Indicative price: £210 for standard price, £185 for a sibling, £185 for Brittens Music School students.

Benefit from the Social, Mental and Emotional benefits of playing an instrument - come and try a 1 hour FREE sessions at one of our Adult Taster Sessions. The sessions will involve groups of up to 10 people (depending on instrument supply) and the teacher will run through the basics of the instrument and then give you the chance to have a go. The sessions are targeted at Adults who are available during the daytime and looking to either revisit an instrument, or start something completely new.

We are booking for this event through Eventbrite - please let us know if you have played before, or already have an instrument, so that we can deliver a session most beneficial to you. We are located opposite the train station if you are coming by train. There is no lift but we do have tea and coffee facilities!Sessions will be held in our Tunbridge Wells branch upstairs in our Music School. If you have your own instrument you're more than welcome to bring it but for those who are trying for the first time, instruments will be provided.

Paul O'Loughlin enjoyed himself so much last Saturday, that he is BACK ! Last week, he gave us a Classical and Electric repetoire, and was accompanied by Mark on Drums. Pop in during the day on Saturday to catch his mighty fingers travel the frets.
On Saturday April 13th, we held a Woodwind Ensemble Workshop with one of our highly experienced teachers Nicky Catterwell. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot!
On Saturday 23rd of February our Tunbridge Wells store held our first Try Out Day of the year!
Starting at 9:30 through to 5pm our staff were on hand to help everyone try out different musical instruments and gave them the best advice on how to choose.

On the 9th and 23rd of December Kim Thornewell and Mike Kent-Davis performed a wonderful variety of songs from the book Christmas Jazz by James Rae.
We were lucky enough to have one of our exam candidates play her pieces for us on the 23rd of December.
Andrea Fernandez Sanchez was accompanied by Juyma Greenleaf Fernandez and they played pieces from Suzuki and Cello Time books and Romberg on the 25th November.
