Details of the Plan

The Brittens Rental scheme is a straight rental scheme with an option to buy the instrument at any point or to return the instrument providing you have rented for the minimum period (chosen at the time when the rental agreement is taken out).

Deposit: At the time the rental agreement is taken out you must pay a returnable deposit which is equal to one month rental. If you bring back the instrument the deposit will be returned to you if you buy the instrument the deposit will be subtracted from the balance payable.

Minimum period: For a Double Bass or a Keyboard, the minimum rental period is 6 months. For other instruments you can choose a 3 months or 6 months minimum period (see below for benefits)

Discounts: You can choose to buy your instrument at any point and you will get a discount off the full cash price. The discount will be your first 3 months rental (+deposit) or 6 month rental (+deposit), which ever you committed to in the first place.

e.g.

• A Basic flute is £350, monthly rental £15.
• You therefore pay £30* on the day you take it (1 months rental + deposit), then £15 each month until you decide to buy it or return it.
• If you commit to 3 months rental then the best time to buy it is obviously after 3 months. You will have paid a total of £60 (3 months rental + deposit). Therefore the balance payable would be £290. You can choose to carry on renting for more months but you will only be entitled to a £60 discount if you later decide to purchase the instrument. Eg. If you decided to buy it after 5 months you will have paid £90 in rentals but the balance would still be £290 (in effect you will have paid £30 interest).
• If you commit to 6 months rental then the best time to buy it will be after 6 months. You will have paid £105 (6 months rental + deposit) so the balance would be £245.

Identification: In order to take out a rental agreement with Brittens Music you will need to present two forms of identification:

1. A Valid Passport OR Drivers Licence (If you are sending the forms to us in the post we will accept a good photocopy).

2. A recent utility bill or bank statement in your name and current address.

You will also need to have a current account from which you are happy to set up a direct debit.

Insurance: This is optional but strongly recommended. Most instruments can be insured against loss; theft and damage for as little as £1.50 per month, subject to a £25 excess on each claim (see individual instruments for exact prices).

Payments: Your initial payment will be taken from the credit or debit card you supply on the rental form. For the remaining payments we will need to set up a direct debit with your bank. You will be charged on either the 1^st or the 15^th of each month beginning no less than 1 month after the agreement date. If you wish to purchase the instrument you can either visit one of our stores to pay the balance in person or you can contact us an instruct us to charge your credit or debit card.

Delivery: If you complete a rental form on our website we will assume you want the instrument delivered and so we have calculated a delivery charge. If you are local to one of our stores and would prefer to collect the instrument simply complete the form in the usual way and then e-mail or contact us to let us know you would prefer to collect the instrument. Due to credit card laws we will be unable to charge your card in advance if you are collecting the instrument but we will be able to reserve an instrument for you and complete most of the paperwork before you arrive to collect it. In this situation please make sure you bring the relevant ID and you credit or debit card with you when you come to collect.
